This painting was resurrected from my discarded pile. I originally hated the hair and decided to just paint the entire background black. But, then that looked too weird so I decided to draw in the hair with graphite pencil. I actually love how it turned out. She's off to a new home, and I will miss her.

every night i give up on this art business. my negative thoughts creep. so n so is so much better than me. so n so sold sooo much more than i did. so n so has so many followers. but, when i sit and listen, i know i should keep going at this "art" thing. i know i should keep doing what brings me such joy.

i was hoping that i'd be more organized this year, but it doesn't seem like it's clicking in yet. i was also hoping to have a schedule, but that only makes me depressed. you see with four sons, even when they're off to school there's so much to do. do i clean and do laundry ? do i run errands? do i get on the treadmill? do i paint and sketch? by the time i go thru the options sometimes i feel like i've done them all. one day at a time will be my new approach.

This is a new brooch that I've just added to my shop. I'm noticing a theme lately with my brooches and pins. I call them "Little Big Mouths". They often say and do the things that I wish I could. I guess I'll live through them for a while. Anyway, meet Chase.

Chase is a party guy. He's that guy. The one that tries to hard to keep up with the youngsters. He thinks he's sooo cool, even though he's waaay past his prime. He's friends try to tell him, but he thinks they're jealous. Chase flys by the seat of his pants. He's not interested in commitments or sleeping over. He doesn't care what everyone else is doing, he just wants to party.

Chase wants you to just dance.

I Am An Artist

For many years she kept her addiction a secret. She was afraid that if anyone knew her true identity they would laugh. All I can say for sure is that before this course, my journey into the art world and trying to make a business out of it has been so much like high school. "Will they like me?","Am I good enough?", "Will I ever fit in?". Maybe. Maybe not.

" Come Hither" she calls to her lover in the sea. Her heart she is waiting to give to thee.

This is an original folk art painting, done by me, Kali. It measures 8 X 10 and was made with acrylics, water colors, and ink. Tiny pieces of vintage papers have been collaged into the piece. "Come Hither" was completed with a crackle glaze. The small clay hand that the mermaid is holding out to her lover ( also handmade by me) is holding a tiny sterling silver heart.

Just in time for Valentine's Day.

I had the best news today. A doll I donated to CraftHope on Etsy sold today. This great shop is raising funds for Doctors Without Borders. All proceeds from the shop go directly to the relief efforts in Haiti.

Here's an update from their web site:

As of this morning we have raised just over $20,000 for Doctors Without Borders, 1,155 sales, and currently have over 155 items for sale in the shop. We have approximately 300 more listings to add to the shop. Please do not be confused and think the shop is closed. We are OPEN for business. Her top has been distressed for a vintage feel, and her beautiful skirt features a bright pink bird with a flower in its mouth.

This is Marli, the newest angel in the team. She dreams of the day when she's earned enough stripes to get the good routes and the easy rescues. But for now, she's just happy to have her wings.

Marli is completely handmade, without the use of any molds. Her dress is made from a map that shows her crazy route. Her little skirt is made from clay with added tinsel for a little sparkle. She has been topped with a crackle glaze for an antique finish.

Sweet Marli is a one of a kind art doll. She is meant to be admired, but not played with like a toy. She is not intended for small children.

Marli measures approx: 6 inches long, and has a small ring attached to the back for hanging.
